Types of libraries

Depending on the type of library, there are different ways items can be organized and further defined when you add them to job descriptions. The table gives an overview of key features. Refer to the more detailed descriptions below to understand the options available for each library.

Competencies

Competencies are abilities, skills, knowledge, motivations, or traits that you can observe and define in terms of behaviours required to succeed in a job. These library items can be added to the Competencies category on job descriptions. They’re included in jobs purchased from HRSG, but you can also create your own. You can:

  • Add competencies that best match a job based on suggestions from our AI.

  • Organize competencies in groups.

  • Select the level of proficiency required on a job.

  • Categorize competencies on a job as core, leadership, job-family, or job-specific.

  • Change the order of competency categories on a job.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities are a type of library item such as ‘Greet and assist visitors when they arrive at the office’ or ‘Design and develop performance support tools’. These library items can be added to an optional Responsibilities category on job descriptions. They’re included in jobs purchased from HRSG, but you can also create your own. You can:

  • Add responsibilities that best match a job based on suggestions from our AI.

  • Organize responsibilities in groups and sub-groups.

  • Create responsibilities directly on a job.

  • Edit responsibilities added from the library directly on a job.

  • Add section headers to organize responsibilities on a job.

  • Rename the Responsibilities library.

Education

Education is a type of library item such as ‘Business Administration’ or ‘Early Childhood Education’. These library items can be added to an optional Education category on job descriptions. They’re included in jobs purchased from HRSG, but you can also create your own. You can: 

  • Organize education in groups.

  • Create education directly on a job.

  • Add descriptive text around education on a job.

  • Customize a scale to define the level of education required on a job.

  • Add equivalent education (OR logic) on a job.

  • Rename the Education library.

Skills

Skills are a type of library item such as ‘Contract Management Software’ or ‘Health and Safety Legislation’. These library items can be added to an optional Skills category on job descriptions. They’re included in jobs purchased from HRSG, but you can also create your own. You can: 

  • Add skills that best matches a job based on suggestions from our AI.

  • Organize skills in groups.

  • Create skills directly on a job.

  • Add descriptive text around skills on a job.

  • Customize a scale to define the level of skills required on a job.

  • Add equivalent skills (OR logic) on a job.

  • Rename the Skills library.

Certifications

Certifications are a type of library item such as ‘Certified Professional Salesperson’ or ‘Registered Dietitian’. These library items can be added to an optional Certification category on job descriptions. We offer a library of certifications in HRSG’s warehouse, but you can also create your own. You can: 

  • Organize certifications in groups.

  • Create certifications directly on a job.

  • Add descriptive text around certifications on a job.

  • Customize different scales to define the certification level required on a job.

  • Add equivalent certifications (OR logic) on a job.

  • Rename the Certifications library.

Experience

Experience is a type of library item such as ‘Experience implementing software solutions’ or ‘3 years of management experience’. These library items can be added to an optional Experience category on job descriptions. You can: 

  • Create experience statements directly on a job.

  • Add descriptive text around experience statements on a job.

  • Add equivalent experience statements (OR logic) on a job.

  • Rename the Experience library.

Languages

Languages are a type of library item such as ‘English’ or ‘French’. These library items can be added to an optional Languages category on job descriptions. You can: 

  • Create languages directly on a job.

  • Add descriptive text around languages on a job.

  • Customize a scale to define the level of language required on a job.

  • Add equivalent languages (OR logic) on a job.

  • Rename the Languages library.

Working conditions

Working conditions are a type of library item such as ‘Needs to be able to lift 10kg boxes’ or ‘Required to travel to visit clients’. These library items can be added to an optional Working Conditions category on job descriptions. You can:

  • Create working conditions directly on a job. 

  • Edit working conditions added from the library directly on a job.

  • Rename the Working Conditions library.

Additional information

Additional information is a type of library item that you can use for whatever suits your organization. These library items can be added to an optional Additional Information category on job descriptions. You can:

  • Organize additional information in groups.

  • Create additional information directly on a job.

  • Edit additional information added from the library directly on a job.

  • Rename the Additional Information library.
