How do I rename a job?

Renaming a job can be necessary for various reasons, whether you’re rebranding a role or correcting a typo. If your organization uses positions, you’ll also need to rename those to match the new job title. Additionally, if you manage data via org imports, updating your import file (or HRIS) prevents future discrepancies. Follow the steps below to ensure a smooth renaming process and keep Quinto aligned with your organization’s updates.

Step 1. Update the job title in Quinto

  1. Click Jobs in the top nav.

  2. Use the search bar to find the job, then click the name in the table.

  3. Click Actions on the top right of the page.

  4. Select Edit job in the drop-down.

  5. Click Actions again and select Edit title.

  6. Enter a new job title and click Save.

  7. Click Actions and select Publish job.

Step 2. Rename associated positions

Position names are displayed in the org chart and on the team page, so we recommend keeping these updated as well.

  1. Click the gear icon on the top right of your screen.

  2. Select User management in the dropdown.

  3. Click the Users page title and select Positions in the dropdown.

  4. Use the search bar to find the position, then click the name in the table.

  5. Click Actions and select Edit position.

  6. Rename the position to match the job title and click Save.

  7. Repeat steps 4-6 for all associated positions.

Step 3. Update your import file

If you’re using org import, we recommend updating your file with a title that matches the changes you made in Quinto before your next import. This means either editing the title in your HRIS if that’s where you export your import file from, or manually adjusting your file. While Quinto won’t disconnect a position from its associated job, updating your import file simplifies user management and promotes consistency.
